What did you think of Taeyeon's new solo track "I"?
Honestly, the song is great! But. There's a but. But, it is repetitive and gets tired after a while. I doubt I will be able to put the track on repeat unlike the rest of Taeyeon's OST tracks like "Can You Hear Me?", "I Love You", "It's Love", "Missing You Like Crazy", or even SNSD's ballads. The most exciting part of the song is the rap. The performance isn't anything to rave about either. She looks lonely and awkward alone on stage, the only performance I watched she looked terrified as well. Unfortunately, I did not manage to finish watching and have no intentions to watch other performances, if I do, it will be just to see her #ootd.
The first time I heard the song, it was broadcasted on the radio at the Korean restaurant I was eating at. And I thought, "This sounds like Taeyeon's voice. But it sounds like a Japanese song (Jpop vibe)." so I shook it off. Bam! I should have trusted my familiarity with her voice more! In fact, in Hidden Singer 3, I was able to identify her voice accurately in all rounds! For all whom are criticizing the producers for NOT giving her her part in GEE, shouldn't that be even MORE obvious that it was not HER voice???
Anyway, "I" is a great refreshing song whose sound has not been attempted by Taeyeon/SNSD before. And needless to say, what a name! This is truly the perfect name for someone who is debuting solo after getting really famous in a group. This is me, this is my music, this is my sound, and this is what I am capable of. Don't see me as SNSD's Taeyeon, I am a solo artist right now, "I" am Taeyeon.
